Reminiscent of Japanese sailing vessels, this wind sculpture plays with the resolute and stolid properties of steel against the light yet powerful force of air. The steel flexes in the wind and displays beautiful curves in it dispersion of stresses.
This piece was given its beautiful lines by using extreme heat and pressure to move the metal and bring it to this form. The texture in the "sails" has been imbued upon the steel by striking with hammer while glowing hot. The center pin has been driven through the large steel bars and hold the whole sculpture together in one massive rivet. These lines and this form belongs in a field or on a hill filling the world with beauty and grace.
